About the Artist

Jennifer Fargo Lathrop has lived in the Bay Area since 1974. The beauty of this region has been an inspiration for her work. Apart from an occasional still life, her work features Bay Area landscapes, often the same subject in different seasons and through different years. She begins each piece outside, working from life.

A fascination with medieval and Renaissance illuminations, plus a lack of a dedicated art space, first led Jennifer to work in small format. Unframed, many of her works are the size of a postcard.

Jennifer currently works in pastels and watercolors. In watercolors, she uses a variety of brush sizes to capture the fine detail of a scene. Jennifer’s pastels are created using soft pastel, with additional detail provided by pastel pencils. All of Jennifer’s work is framed using museum-quality acrylic, both to protect the piece from UV exposure and to allow the fine detail of the piece to be viewed without glare.
